La Fête fransaskoise inc.

The idea of incorporating the festival was set out in the Morin Report. The study, commissioned by the ACF, noted that such a structure opened up the possibility of grants. It proposed that a permanent committee be set up under the sponsorship of the ACF for its first few years. This recommendation was seen by the CCF as a slap in the face for their work over the previous 22 years.

At the Willow Bunch festival in 2001, the ACF was getting ready to announce the establishment of a management committee to implement the recommendations of the study, when suddenly, at the end of the event, the CCF announced the incorporation of the festival. The ACF was in shock at the decision made on the sly; in no way was it consistent with the previous attempts at dialogue in the community. The CCF decided to incorporate the event because they were afraid of seeing the festival spirit disappear, but also because they felt the ACF was getting too deeply involved in the file.
