'Small is Beautiful' (2002)
In August 2002, l'Eau vive's José Deschênes raised an interesting question about the Fête fransaskoise - the number of participants. He suggested adapting to the drop in attendance of the last three years when organizing the next festivals. He emphasized that the principal purpose of the festival is not mainly the numbers at the gate but 'making it possible for people to meet, talk, get together and create an atmosphere which helps develop the Fransaskois reality' (L'Eau vive, August 1st, 2002). It seemed indeed that the festival goers were not looking for a large-scale event but one which facilitated reunion gatherings. Listen to what Hélène Marchildon from Zenon Park (audio) and Muriel Denis from Saint Denis (audio) had to say on the subject.
